Warming and invigorating

Moxibustion is an ancient Chinese therapy warming technique that involves the burning of dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) on or near the skin to stimulate specific points on the body. It has been used for thousands of years as a way to invigorate the body and promote healing and balance.

One of the key benefits of moxibustion is its ability to treat pain. By stimulating specific points on the body with heat, moxibustion can help to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote the body’s natural healing process. Moxibustion has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of pain conditions, including back pain, neck pain, and arthritis.

Moxibustion is also an effective therapy for treating digestive issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, and diarrhea. Perhaps its most well-known application is helping to turn breech babies, but it has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of other woman’s gynecological issues, such as menstrual cramps and infertility.

Some other benefits of moxibustion are its ability to strengthen the immune system, improve overall health and boost mood and energy. It has been shown to be effective in treating conditions such as allergies, asthma, depression, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

“A disease that may not be treated [i.e. is not successfully treated] by acupuncture [alone] may be treated by moxibustion.”
